MON DC EXHORTS: Mon District Health & Family Welfare Communitized Review Meeting was held on September 7, 2011 at NPF Hall, Mon Town from 11:00 am. The chief guest of the programme, Angu I Thou, Deputy Commissioner, Mon, dwelled on the problem of absenteeism of nurses and other medical staffs from their place of posting.
 As the heads of the health programme in the villages under the communitization programme, the DC enquired of the Village Health Committee Chairman as to what steps were being taken to correct this problem. She advised the VHC Chairman to withhold the salary of any staff who does not stay in their villages in accordance with the “No Work; No Pay” principles of communization.
The DC also addressed the nurse saying that except in cases of study leave, it was imperative that all staff should stay in their respective places of posting. “We mean business. There will be no compromise when it comes to health and education,” she asserted. She emphasized on knowing responsibility in order to deliver justice to their noble service and program implementation as well. Angau also went on to add that a “Review Meeting” meant reviewing the changes that has come about after communitization, for which the Village Health Committee should make use of the power vested upon it. She added that after three month, the district would sit for such review meeting during which, changes in the villages since this meeting would be analyzed.The meeting was attended by VHC Chairmen and Secretaries of health units across on district. The meeting was chaired by Chief Medical Officer, Mon Dr. T Kikon and vote of thanks was proposed by the Medical Superintendent Incharge, District Hospital, Mon, Dr. Hoito.
The meeting was followed by a training session on the “Important Issues of Communitization and Reactivation” by CMO Mon, Dr. T Kikon and “Measles Catch-up Campaign” by District Immunization Officer, Dr. S Mukherjee.
