COMMUNITY SUPPORTS HIV/AIDS PROGRAM : The Eastern Nagaland Social Service Society Kiphire with home resources and own funded have launched the HIV/AIDS program at Kiphire District, in the state of Nagaland which is one of the interior areas.
The services and activities includes LFU, referrals, linkages with social schemes, mobilization for socio economic development and livelihood of the PLHIVs and besides referral with support for those coming from interior villages to the ICTC/ARTC for health checkups.
This initiative has been promoted on recommendation of the ENSSS Direct Assessment Team Reports 2011 with the support and resource contributions from the community and various individuals who have a concern and support to various agencies despite various projects implementing in the district. This initiatives is temporarily for a period of three months manned by three volunteers (Outreach workers) assigned at specific target areas under the supervisions of prominent and experienced individuals comprising of former and present NGO activists who have worked/working for the care and support to PLHIVs in different capacities and also active PLHIVs of the district.
This program expects to reach out more to the unreached areas where PLHIVs from the interior villages can avail the services that are available at newly installed ARTC and help them live a positive life by capacitating themselves and have access to various social schemes and promote Income generation activities. It also expects to strengthen the activities of various NGOs and service delivery points.
In view of the above, Consultative Meeting with various lead agencies (DAPCU, ARTC & ICTC) was held on 24th July 2011 at Kiphire town as part of introduction on the program and the activities and areas that is to be implemented.
