TUENSANG HOSPITAL FACING SHORTAGE OF STAFF, BASIC AMENITIES : Changsao Thangjam Setshang (CTS) has expressed disappointment over the dereliction of duties, shortage of staff and lack of basic amenities at District Civil Hospital Tuensang. Changsao Thangjam Setshang, while visiting district civil hospital Tuensang on Friday alleged that only a night chowkidar was present and that none of the ministerial staff and chowkidar under medical superintendent turned up till 12 noon.
 According to CTS, two doctors never turned up for their duty since their appointment at civil hospital Tuensang. CTS requested both the doctors to reach their posting place before September 15, failing which CTS said it would take its own course of action.
CTS also observed some of the nurses who never attended to their duties were contacted through mobile for physical verification and their forms were filled up through phone. In this connection, CTS questioned whether “physical fitness was done through mobile or real physical verification.”
On maintenance of the hospital, CTS also asked if there was any fund provided.

CTS said owing to lack of fund, civil hospital Tuensang was functioning only with registration fee of `20 from each patient and cabin rent, were, maintained like stationery. Besides fuelling of generator, miscellaneous expenditure and donating remaining money to the poor patients were being done “from that source,” added CTS. Currently, civil hospital Tuensang is in need of Orthopedics, eye, ENT specialist and pediatrics doctors, more X-Ray technicians, CTS said while adding that the existing eight sweepers were unable to cover up the entire work and appealed to create more sweeper post and funds of maintenance of the hospital.

Further, CTS requested all staff under MS, to be aware of their duties as the situation demandeds, and cautioned that it would take stern action against erring doctors, nurses and staff if found neglecting their duties in their next surprise checking. CTS requested doctors and nurses who were attached to other places to perform their duties at their own posting place.
